Sally Hemings (a short film)

An opera based on the historical figure Sally Hemings. The film which is at points narrative, at other points poetic, focuses on the relationship between President Jefferson and his slave, Sally Hemings. Through a provocative combination of music, movement, location, costumes, and props, the collaboration brings to light the still-standing controversial natures and complexities of interracial relationships in our country.
